Here is a self diagnosing guideline to show what appropriate actions to take before


SYMPTOM	TEST	DETAILS Difficulties hearing in any situation	Hearing test	"Standard comprehensive hearing assessment includes: Pure Tone Audiometry Speech Audiometry Middle Ear assessment Recommendations for next steps Implementation of clinical management, including (where appropriate) a free hearing aid evaluation (trial)." Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears	Hearing test immediately	If required, urgent ENT assessment will be arranged with your permission. Blocked feeling in ear or ears	Hearing test	Determines whether further medical intervention is required. Children with speech delay	Hearing test	All ages are catered for, from newborn baby through to adult. Repeated ear infections	Hearing test	Determines what further medical intervention is required. If required, ENT assessment will be arranged with your permission. Tinnitus or ringing in the ear/s	"Hearing test Tinnitus assessment "	"Determines whether medical intervention or tinnitus treatment is required. The provision of information and coping strategies is usually enough to alleviate concern or the need to progress to treatment." Hearing loss and communication difficulties	"Hearing test and hearing aid assessment. Includes comprehensive assessment and offer of a free hearing aid trial. Unbiased professional hearing aid recommendation."	Full rehabilitation program including the device, fitting and follow-up during our bespoke after-care program. Discharge from ear/s	Refer to ENT directly	- Foreign object in the ear/s	Refer to ENT directly	- "Dizziness or vertigo or disequilibrium."	"Hearing test + Balance test (VNG, calorics + VEMP). You will be referred out for the Balance portion of tests."	"Comprehensive hearing test and balance assessment to determine site of lesion and make recommendations for further medical management or rehabilitation." "Suspected Meniere’s Disease (endolymphatic hydrops) or perilymph fistula."	"Hearing test + Balance test + Electrocochleography + Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP). You will be referred out for the Balance portion of tests. "	Complete assessment for Meniere’s disease (endolymphatic hydrops) or a perilymph fistula. "Severe hearing loss with limited hearing aid benefit."	Cochlear implant assessment. 	"Comprehensive assessment to determine candidacy for cochlear implantation.
